As part of the Shire's 2021/2022 Capital Works Program, it is proposed to formalise a road connection of the gravelled section of Allpike Road linking the southside and northside of Allpike Road.

The upgrade and sealing of this connection reflects the Shire of Mundaring's ongoing proactive approach to improving access routes across the Shire in case of bushfire. This road access upgrade strategy looks to assess high risk areas and mitigate entrapment and safety risks by undertaking the upgrades.

Works are to commence in early October 2021 and will consist of the following:

• Minor Vegetation clearing and moving of rocks to allow 6.0m clear zone between obstructions
• New gravel pavement to 5.5m wide
• Installation of mountable kerb aprons at either end
• New 5.0m wide asphalt seal
• Site tidy and completion.

Verge areas impacted by these works will be adjusted as required to accommodate new levels.

Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the works and all reasonable care will be taken to minimise inconvenience to residents and the public during construction works. Weather conditions permitting, every effort will be taken to keep to schedule, however, there are occasionally times when rescheduling is required due to unforeseen circumstances.
