Shire run events and workshops

Shire of Mundaring hold regular talks and workshops on local environment or sustainability themes throughout the year.

Check out what's coming up in Events and Workshops.

You can also sign up to the Shire's email list to receive the Six Seasons Newsletter and upcoming events by sending an email request to environment@mundaring.wa.gov.au.

Six Seasons is a short newsletter produced by the Shire of Mundaring Environment and Sustainability Team.

Launched in February 2021, it includes information, updates, upcoming events and inspiration for environmental sustainability initiatives within the shire.

The newsletter is themed around the Noongar six seasons which reflect how nature changes throughout the year in this part of the country. It also represents an understanding and respect for seasonal cycles of plants and animals, including food availability.

Earth Carers program

Earth Carers are members of the community who graduate from the Earth Carers course to learn practical ways of reducing waste at home and in the community. Through the completion of the Earth Carers course, Earth Carers join a community of like minded people and help to promote waste minimisation in the local community.

The Earth Carers course consists of five sessions over three weeks and includes: guided tours, composting and worm farming demonstrations, learning what can be recycled in the community and tips to encourage others to reduce waste.

Living Smart courses

The Living Smart course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to take action in their own homes to improve their quality of life and reduce their environmental impact. They run over up to eight sessions and include a field-trip as well as hands-on learning in-class.
