Group bookings

  • Sites 1 to 13 and Sites 14 to 22 can each be booked as Group Sites (except for during school holidays, long weekends and Easter).
  • Only registered incorporated organisations, businesses and government agencies are eligible for the group bookings rates at the Lake Leschenaultia Camp Grounds.
  • The organisation, business or government agency has to nominate a person who will attend the camp ground throughout the booking and be responsible for the conduct of all members of the group.
  • The organisation, business or government agency requires public liability insurance that covers the activities being undertaken at Lake Leschenaultia.

Camp sites available

Camping at Lake Leschenaultia is divided into two separate camping areas:

  1. Main campground (tents, campervan and towed camping vehicles). Please note:
    • No grey water dumping is allowed. All campervans and towed camping vehicles MUST have self-contained grey water storage or use the camp kitchen
    • No black water dumping allowed.
  2. Tent campground (tents only).

Please ensure your camping equipment and vehicle, including any annexes or extensions, fit within the footprint of the site.

Camp site suitability 

  • All sites are suitable for tents and swags. Please ensure the site booked will accommodate the size of your tent/s.
  • Selected sites are suitable for campervans (motor vehicles with living accommodation, vehicles with roof top tents), with access limitations on length for some sites.
  • Selected sites are suitable for towed camping vehicles (caravans, camper trailers, hybrids, etc), with access limitations on the length for some sites.
  • Sites are powered (minimum 15m extension lead required) and have their own fire pit.

Booking alterations and refunds

Refunds - powered sites

For powered site bookings cancelled more than 14 days prior to the booking date, a 50% refund is payable. Please contact lake@mundaring.wa.gov.au to organise the refund.

For powered site bookings cancelled 14 days or less prior to the booking date, no refund is applicable.

A full refund will be available for all campground bookings when the Fire Danger Ratings reach CATASTROPHIC, or in an emergency situation. In these instances the park and campground will be closed to the public. You will be notified at the earliest possible opportunity to offer a change of date or full refund. If you have already commenced your experience and, dependent on your situation, an alternative camping date may be able to be arranged with booking staff to compensate for any loss of camp time.

Refunds - group site bookings, sites 1-3 and 14-22

For group site bookings cancelled more than 28 days prior to the booking date, a 50% refund is payable. Please contact lake@mundaring.wa.gov.au to organise the refund.

For group site bookings cancelled 28 days or less prior to the booking date, no refund is applicable.

A full refund will be available for all campground bookings when the Fire Danger Ratings reach CATASTROPHIC, or in an emergency situation. In these instances the park and campground will be closed to the public. You will be notified at the earliest possible opportunity to offer a change of date or full refund. If you have already commenced your experience and, dependent on your situation, an alternative camping date may be able to be arranged with booking staff to compensate for any loss of camp time.

Date change

You are entitled to make one change of date, providing at least two days’ notice is given.  Conditions of a date change are:

  • No refund will be made if you request to change a date less than 2 days prior to your booked date of arrival.
  • You must advise a date when transferring the booking.
  • The new date must be within 365 days of the initial arrival date and will be subject to availability.
  • If an alternate date is not known, the booking will be cancelled and a refund may be provided (maximum 50% of the fee paid).
  • Bookings cannot be split.
  • Should any transferred booking, regardless of the notice given, be subsequently cancelled, the maximum refund available is 50% of the fee paid.

General information and conditions

Anti-social behaviour

Lake Leschenaultia is a family friendly campground in a nature reserve. It is not a party venue. Guests displaying anti-social, offensive or disruptive behaviour will be asked to leave the campground immediately.

Alcohol

Alcohol is permitted at the campgrounds, however responsible consumption and behaviour is expected. Underage drinking will not be tolerated and police will be called.

After hours entry

If you need to leave the park after hours please ensure you lock the main gate (with your allocated facility key).

Age restrictions

  • At least one parent or guardian must be present and responsible at all times for young people under 18 years of age.
  • Bookings for groups of unaccompanied young people will not be permitted and proof of age may be required.
  • Parents are responsible for their children (for their safety and the comfort of others). 

BBQ cooking facilities

  • The camp kitchen is equipped with an electric BBQ and hot plate.
  • Personal gas and electric BBQ's and burners may be used on your campsite but they must only be used in a cleared area, and must not be used during a declared Total Fire Ban.
  • Please note that during a Prohibited Burning Period, Weber-type BBQ's, roasting pits, pizza ovens or any solid fuel coals or heat beads are not permitted.

Camp kitchen

The camp kitchen is equipped with:

  • Fridge/freezer
  • Hot and cold water (suitable for drinking). 
  • Electric BBQ and hot plate
  • Food preparation bench.

Caretaker

An onsite caretaker is available to assist campers, monitor behaviour and evacuate the campsite in the event of an emergency.

Check-in procedure

Camp sites are available from 12pm. Campers need to register, pick up gate key and pay any additional fees at the Park Office between 3.30pm and 5pm. Late arrivals by prior arrangement only - strictly no check ins after 8pm.

Check-out procedure

Check-out, site vacation and key return must occur no later than 10am on the day of departure.

Fires

  • Between 1 April and 31 May – Restricted Burning Period. Camp fires are only permitted after 6pm, only in the fire pits provided at each campsite and must be out by 11pm and FULLY extinguished before midnight (fully extinguished means no heat, smoke or steam and no white ash).
  • Between 1 June and 30 September camp fires are only allowed in the fire pits provided at each campsite.
  • Between 1 October and 30 November - Restricted Burning Period. Camp fires are only permitted after 6pm, only in the fire pits provided at each campsite and must be out by 11pm and FULLY extinguished before midnight (fully extinguished means no heat, smoke or steam and no white ash).
  • Between 1 December and 31 March - Prohibited Burning Period. NO camp fires are permitted. This period may be extended earlier or later depending on prevailing weather conditions at the time. 

Fire pit

Each site has its own fire pit that can only be used when there are no fire bans in place.

Firewood

Firewood is available for purchase from the Office. Please comply with all fire restrictions in place at the time of your visit.

No collection of firewood is permitted within the park grounds.

Facilities key

All sites are issued a facility key that can access Number 5 Emergency Exit Gate, the toilet blocks and the main entry gate. A lost key charge of $65 will be pursued for any lost or un-returned keys.

Prohibited at the lake

To help everyone have an enjoyable experience and to keep the lake safe and clean, the following are prohibited at the lake: 

  • Dogs (except where they are approved in writing by the Shire or are registered Assistance Dogs (an authorisation card must be carried when entering the park)
  • All other pets (i.e. cats, horses/ponies, etc)
  • Motorised boats or model boats
  • Sailing boats
  • Confetti, funny string, or water balloons
  • Glass bottles on the sand or in the water
  • Off-road motorbikes or vehicles
  • Tent/shade pegs on lawn areas (to avoid breaking reticulation lines)
  • All motorised aircraft (including drones, which can only be used with prior approval of the Shire). Please email shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au to request permission
  • Fishing.

Site power

Sites 1 to 22 have access to power boxes. A minimum 15m extension lead is required to reach each site.

Tent pegs

Please note you will need strong pegs, at least 10mm diameter, to cater for the hard ground, or bring an electric drill with a 200-300mm long masonry auger, sized for your pegs.

Valuables

Please do not leave any valuable items outside your tent overnight or during the day if you are away from your site. No responsibility will be taken by Park Management for any loss or damage to persons, property or equipment.

Visitors

Only the nominated number of people on the booking are allowed to camp overnight on the booked site. Visitors must leave before park closing time.

Wastewater

No waste water is to be discharged onto the ground. Internal plumbing can only be used in camping vehicles that have a greywater tank installed and that this tank must be emptied off site. There is NOT a dump point at the camp ground or surrounding area.

Fire pits

Important note: The new Australian National Fire Danger Rating System means that No Camp Fires are allowed if the rating is HIGH or aboveTo check for current and upcoming Fire Danger Ratings for Lake Leschenaultia go to the Bureau of Meteorology FDR page and look for the SWAN INLAND NORTH district. These ratings change daily so please use the projections for the upcoming days a as guide only.

If you wish to have a campfire during the unrestricted burning period, you will need to bring your own firewood with you. No collection of firewood is permitted within the park grounds.  Please comply with all fire restrictions in place at the time of your visit.

Gas BBQ's and burners are allowed but they must only be used in a cleared area.
