Entry passes and FAQs
A Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass grants homeowners and residents in the Shire of Mundaring access to the Shire's Community Recycling Centres in Mundaring and Chidlow.
An entry pass entitles the resident to:
- Three entries for general waste disposal to landfill* renewed each financial year
- Unlimited entry and disposal of certain recyclables, separated into different areas for recycling
- Unlimited entries and disposal of green waste disposal
*Additional entries for general waste can be purchased (see below).
The entry pass is now electronic and can be stored on your phone or printed.
Residents can register at the My Mundaring online portal to obtain an electronic pass.
The last issued entry pass card can continue to be used indefinitely.
How do I get an additional general waste disposal entry pass?
Additional entries to dispose of general waste may be purchased at the Community Recycling Centre (EFTPOS facilities are available), or at the Shire's Administration Centre in Mundaring (view location and opening hours) or through the My Mundaring online portal.
The cost is $65 (2023/24) each.
How do I notify the Shire of a change of address?
If you change your postal address, please complete a Change of Address form.
Change of Address Form (PDF)
What if I rent a property? How do I get an entry pass?
If you are a tenant leasing a property (renting), you will need to provide proof you reside at the property and then you will be added as an authorised user. You will need to obtain an electronic pass to then gain entry.
Can I get an entry pass for a vacant, commercial, non-rateable or non-prescribed property?
A pass may be issued to a property that does not receive one with the standard waste service, for a fee. The entry conditions remain the same as for residents – no commercial vehicles, quantities or commercial waste.
Can I transfer an entry pass?
The entry pass is not transferable. They are issued to Shire of Mundaring residents to dispose of waste from a single household only. They are issued in the property owner’s name but able to be used by anyone resident in the property.
Please carry proof of residence for the address on the entry pass, as it may be requested by the gate attendant. You will be refused entry if you cannot show you are resident there or listed as an authorised user on the entry pass.
You may not be the property owner, but because you do live there, you will have your Drivers Licence with that address.
Unauthorised use of the entry pass may result in entries for that property being withdrawn.
How do I replace a lost entry pass?
As passes are now electronic, replacement cards are no longer issued. If you need assistance with an electronic pass, please contact us.
Can I get assistance with waste removal?
Residents with an entry pass who may not be able to take their waste to the Community Recycling Centre themselves, are able to contact us in writing to request family and friends as helpers.
We do appreciate that some residents are unable to make the journey to the Community Recycling Centre themselves. To assist with this, we may issue a permission letter that will link your property entry pass to your helper/s. The helper will need to have their Drivers Licence with them.
Please email your request to shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au. Include your name and property address, contact phone numbers, reason for your request and full name and address of the family who will be assisting you.
Do I need a pass to enter Containers for Change?
No pass is needed for Containers for Change. Your Containers for Change Scheme ID number is required to enable payment to your nominated bank account as cash is nor provided.
Electronic passes and FAQs
We have moved towards a paperless environment and electronic passes. The hard copy entry pass is valid to use each year.
Residents have several options available to ensure an easy transition to the new system. Additional information can be found in the 'frequently asked questions' section below.
How do I check how many passes I have left?
You can check your Community Recycling Centre details and authorised users under the waste module of the My Mundaring online portal.
How do I use my electronic Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass?
You can present the barcode at the Community Recycling Centre as a downloaded and saved image on your phone. Alternatively, you may prefer to print it.
How do I share my electronic Community Recycling Centre entry barcode with an additional (authorised) user?
You can forward the electronic Entry Pass by attaching the electronic photo image to a text or email to your nominated user.
Alternatively, you can provide a printed copy of the Entry Pass to the person who requires it. However, property owners must first request and have authorised other people (family members, contractors etc.) to dispose of waste on their behalf at the Community Recycling Centres.

Alternatively, you can download or send the Entry Pass barcode to your tenant once they have been accepted as an authorised user once being accepted as a Tenant user on the My Mundaring portal.
I am a tenant, how do I access a Community Recycling Centre Entry pass?
