For the first time in its history, Shire of Mundaring boasts two women in leadership roles on Council. Joining the first Shire President to be voted by electors, we welcome Councillor Trish Cook as our newest Deputy Shire President. Cr Cook was elected by Councillors at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 31 October.

Shire President Paige McNeil said she was looking forward to working alongside Cr Cook.

“With outstanding leadership skills, I am delighted Cr Cook has been elected to this important role on Council. I look forward to working with Cr Cook over the next two years to deliver positive outcomes for our community,” she said.

“Having served as a hard-working, dedicated South Ward member for six years, Cr Cook brings extensive local government experience to the role.”

Cr Cook holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science, a Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety and is currently in the final year of study to obtain a PhD. As a successful business person, lobbyist and advocate for the shire, Cr Cook brings experience, dedication and passion to this new role.

“As a critical thinker with an enquiring mind, I am always the one to ask questions. This, I believe is the foundation of good decision-making and in challenging established practices,” she said.

“My role on Council is underpinned by personal values of fairness, empathy, professionalism and hard work.”

“I offer fair, frank and fearless support to the Shire President and Councillors.”

Please join us in congratulating our newest Deputy Shire President. We look forward to her contribution in delivering positive outcomes for our community and addressing issues that matter most to our residents.
