Six Seasons is a short newsletter produced by the Shire of Mundaring Environment and Sustainability Team.

Launched in February 2021, it includes information, updates, upcoming events and inspiration for environmental sustainability initiatives within the shire.

The newsletter is themed around the Noongar six seasons, with each edition featuring original artwork for each season by Indigenous artist and designer, Tyrown Waigana. The Noongar six-season calendar reflects how nature changes throughout the year in this part of the country. It also represents an understanding and respect for seasonal cycles of plants and animals, including food availability.

The six seasons are:

  • Birak (December to January, the first summer)
  • Bunuru (February to March, the second summer)
  • Djeran (April to May, ant season)
  • Makuru (June to July, the first rains)
  • Djilba (August to September growing season)
  • Kambarang (October to November, wildflower season).

Copies are available from Shire reception, Mundaring and Boya Libraries, or can be downloaded below.
