Shire of Mundaring’s Economic Development and Tourism Informing Strategy was adopted by Council on 13 June 2023.

The five-year Strategy aims to encourage economic activity that capitalises on the special character and attractions of the shire, including its distinctive art, food, culture and natural environment. It also aligns with the community’s vision for the Shire as a place for sustainable living.

Shire President James Martin said the Council was proud to share its vision for the Shire of Mundaring as a welcoming, connected and sustainable lifestyle destination, celebrated for its natural beauty, rich heritage, vibrant culture and prosperous economy.

“Over the past two years, the Shire has developed this strategy with a strong focus on fostering a business-led, Shire supported approach. Our belief is that this collaborative effort, driven by business aspirations and requirements, will not only enable economic development but also facilitate the prosperous growth of tourism,” he said.

“The Strategy is a guide for the Shire of Mundaring in its capacity as a supporter of economic development and tourism.”

“The Strategy will guide us towards sustainable population, business and employment growth, enhancement of infrastructure, and growing a vibrant and sustainable visitor economy.”

The Strategy was prepared in consultation with a Strategy Reference Group which was formed in 2021 and was comprised of local businesses, enterprise and tourism representatives including the Mundaring and Swan Chambers of Commerce.

Shire of Mundaring takes this opportunity to sincerely thank the Strategy Reference Group and the wider community for the important role of providing invaluable input and feedback during the development of this Strategy.
