The Perth Hills Tourism Alliance has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award in the Excellence in Local Government Award for Tourism at the 2024 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.
Experience Perth Hills is the official tourism brand of the Perth Hills Tourism Alliance (PHTA) a collaborative partnership between the City of Armadale, City of Kalamunda, Shire of Mundaring, Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, and City of Swan (Gidgegannup). The Alliance is dedicated to driving the visitor economy across the stunning Darling Scarp region through impactful marketing and development initiatives.
The Gold Award follows the recent launch of the new Experience Perth Hills website and brochure, which showcase the incredible tourism experiences that the Perth Hills has to offer. Beating out City of Perth and Shire of Chittering, who received Silver and Bronze respectively, this win is a significant achievement for the Alliance.
Shire of Mundaring President Paige McNeil expressed pride in the collaborative efforts that led to this award:
“This award reflects the strength and success of our partnership with neighbouring councils and highlights the immense value of working together to boost tourism in the Perth Hills region. By sharing resources and aligning our vision, we have created an approach that benefits not only our local businesses but also the entire community.”
She continued, “Tourism is a vital part of our strategy to build a sustainable economy and create job opportunities within the Shire of Mundaring. This recognition inspires us to continue enhancing the visitor experience and showcasing the natural beauty, rich culture, and vibrant community spirit of the Perth Hills.”
Shire of Mundaring is committed to growing tourism in alignment with its 2024-2034 Council Plan, which envisions the region as a hub for sustainable living. This includes the revitalisation of the Mundaring town centre, support for key events, and expanded tourism and business support services across the Shire.
